The Myth Behind Weight Gain as you Get Older. Part 1

For more than 50 years I have raged war on my body, believing she was betraying me, and I felt I would have to continue the battle to try and control my weight as I grew older.

I frequently screamed at my body in my head, for the betrayal of the extra weight she was carrying. I felt humiliated at my expanding waistline, and saddened that I could not fit into the styles of clothes I absolutely loved to wear. But I had to buy the tent style dresses that I hated.

I know now that I was literally starving my body and ignoring any prompts from her for what she really wanted for me to understand. That was, how I could best adjust and reverse my fixed belief’s about my body, what I was continually saying about her, as well as the choice of the foods I ate. My body was calling to me but I never heard her cries.

The belief’s I held, and the words I shouted at my body were not helping at all, and little did I know then that this mental aspect of my mind set was actually equally as important to finding the daily nutrition that I loved, that would serve my body best.

“So when I started to be open to these new aspects and create the reality I wanted from this additional perspective. I noticed the results were very effective and my body responded quickly and positively.
The moment you shift your mindset, you gain the momentum that increases your bodies ability to go to the next big level you’ve been asking for.

Shifting your Mindset from past subtle self-sabotage and procrastination and into confidence and consistent action is THE proven process for overcoming resistance and let your weight balance out.

What I had discovered allowed me to rapidly re new and re connect with my inner knowing through a mindset practice, so that I created the physical experience I wanted. I shifted my mindset, I saw how I could consciously create the BODY that I have always wanted, from the inside out.”

What would you say is your worst fear when it comes to your body and your weight?

My body started to look like my mother’s body – ARGH! I want MY body back!

My body started to look like my mother’s body – ARGH! I want my body back!

I found myself hating my reflection and only seeing the aspects of my body that were strikingly like my mothers, which scared me knowing my mothers healthy history. And struggles she never overcame.

I knew that this image I had in the mirror, and when I caught myself saying phrases and reacting like her in certain situations was a sign to me to pay attention and make some changes for myself.

It was back in 2012 and, when I finally stopped comparing myself to her, and I asked my body, as I often do, WHY I was hanging onto this weight, and I had a revelation.

My initial foray into body whispering, allowed me to finally see that the endless years spent hating the relationship with my mother, and comparing myself to her, believing her criticisms of me, listening to her woes, and long complaints of just about everything, then looking for validation from her, had actually caused an undercurrent of stress, acidity, and ongoing pain, and – you’ve got it – a layer of protective fat around my criticized and striving for perfection belly.  I also got a clear view that I had taken over her struggles as my own, it had been a habitual way to communicate with her and to try and feel connected.

You see, there is nothing more responsive than your body to your thoughts and feelings.

In fact, everything that you see on the outside – health problems, weight gain, discomfort – is simply a mirror to the way you are feeling on the inside.

When I finally realised that, I could begin to create my own health, vitality and that perfect body from the inside out. Emotionally leading a brand new relationship with my mother, my food, with exercise, and with my beautiful body. Even if it’s was not as I wanted it to be just yet. I was recreating and consciously re constructing myself and it felt good. Better than that when I was feeling invincible I knew that I was building and training my body how I wanted to feel in the next phase of my life.

These days, I help women, just like you, to discover the emotional issues, that are causing the physical symptoms so that they can finally create the body, and the life that they desire. Everything around you is a reflection of your true thoughts and these emotions have a vibration that then go onto create you in a cellular and molecular structure, Change enough of the little pictures and you will eventually have a whole ne picture and can live the dream.

5 Essential Ingredients to Finally Getting the Body You Want

5 Essential Ingredients to Getting the Body You Want

By Fiona Robertson

Most of us cannot deny that more than once we have craved a very different body, and want to enjoy wearing the clothes we love rather than the clothes we fit. And of course be healthy live a long life and have more energy, but it’s the weight that I would love to address here.

If your like me then lets say, most of us have tried hundreds of different diets, detoxes and cleanses and changed our eating habits and sometimes quite drastically too, looking for the magic secret button that keeps weight away for good.

Like me, I bet you have lost and gained and got really stuck and confused several times over and could scream with the relentless ease that weight goes on, and at the struggle to get it to shift off.

This experience is so familiar to me and I was really frustrated to never really succeed and then I would end up feeling like complete failure, and want to give up on my body, I would spit hateful words at her and hide her under clothes that covered up the worst features.

For me the desire to change my body was not based on just vanity, but to experience energy and vitality and a freedom of movement, and a confidence in myself so that I could feel relaxed happy with myself in any situation.

So when I finally triumphed and lost the weight I wanted after years and years of experimenting and tweaking and then not put it back on I realized that I had reached my hallelujah! as I figured out what worked for me to keep the dreaded weight off. Which is the biggest goal.

Now for the first time ever, I am confident with my body and how she responds, I know I can make conscious choices about what and when to eat, what exercise I love, I meditate every day, and I fill myself up with nourishment that has nothing to do with food and I place my needs at the top of the list daily and stay true to myself.

It’s not a place to be in and suffer this all in silence, its far more common than you think. My aim is to let you know that I understand and hear you, and to share what I have experienced and put into practice the essential ingredients that are decided from the root cause, from inside out, towards weight, and share that with as many people as possible, so that they may have this liberation feeling and enjoy the experience of being in their body too.

Be Aware

It is a gift to know why you want to lose weight and to be able to know all the specific details about that, so get clear what it is that you would like to accomplish by answering for yourself the three simple but essential following questions: Be specific and as detailed as possible, be as if you live your response to the question.

What do you want instead? What ideal weight, size and look do you want to achieve?

How will your life be different once you have achieved this goal?

.            How will you feel when you have reached your goal?

Its of great benefit to spend some quality time with yourself as you answer these questions and come back to them time and time again, and keep them in the forefront of your mind during the day.

When you become more aware of yourself, you can notice when you are eating from reasons other than hunger, when you have experienced a trigger that sets of a chain reaction to choose your habitual compensation foods, rather than another more beneficial nutrient that can be found from an array of sources, once you know what they are for you.

Choose the nutrition that is perfect for you

On an intellectual level, you know that to lose weight, you must eat less and exercise more. But there’s no way on earth that this is going to happen until you know certain things about yourself first. You need to know your eating personality, your values and your style of eating this will start to tell you, why you eat what you eat, and why you eat when you are not hungry.

There is NO one right way to eat. In fact, there are so many different healthy experiences we can have with our bodies, and that is why we can have one experience and someone else can have a completely different experience and we all ate the same food. You have to know that there is way more going on here, than just food in and food out.

It all lies in us being individuals, our personal experiences, emotions, our beliefs all really matter and shape us when it comes to the result we have with food we choose.

There are so many choices and so much information it can be truly overwhelming, You have to figure out what way works best for you today and tomorrow and next week, it is certain to change as your bodies requirements change. The stress we have in any given day eats up all the nutrients we give our body, as does our varying hormone levels, the quality of our gut bacteria and our internal thoughts, all of these alter the status quo of our needs.

Have you ever noticed that you crave a food so strongly that you have to have it, even if its not on your list or diet. This has happened to me a lot, and now I listen and ask my body to tell me if she needs it and she gives me a yes or a no. I ask her what she wants to eat and I get an image or a flavour, or a temperature and when I have that meal it hits the spot like nothing else could, I thoroughly enjoy it and we are fulfilled. That is completely different from opening the fridge to see what needs used up.

I have run on empty for so long with the endless diets I tried and detoxing permanently, that I now cherish the luxury items I deprived myself of for so long. I am now a flexitarian and a conscious consumer when it comes to food and I consult my body for what she needs. I trust her. Basically I can say I have a 80/20 rule and that is, that I eat very well 80 percent of the time and I am happy to indulge and enjoy whatever I want 20 percent of the time. Any restriction to do with food or anything else now is purely fools play. Your body knows best and will rise up and bite you in the bum if you ignore her.

It is not a time for more diets but for creating an easier more enjoyable way to feel really alive in your body.

As for movement I do the exactly the same. I have no regime nor do I sentence myself to the same routine or exercise every day. I thrive on variety its one of my values and so I am flexible, I mix it up and my body loves it.

Do you know what you want? Can you relax to a point that you can feel that you have that experience already in your day?

A way to do this is to get familiar with meditation. Meditation allows you to relax and find a connection with what you really want in life. It can help you to get clear answers to the questions I have already asked you. Meditation has a way to tune you into your intuition, and keep you in touch with the Universe and be guided. Meditation allows you the time to get out of your over thinking and strategizing head and thoughts and allows what you want, to gently come forward and therefore start to manifest. Every day stresses, as well as built up and stored stress in your body can be slowly released with regular meditation. The more relaxed you can be the easier it is to make better choices and listen to what your body needs, wants and is lacking the most.

Stress causes great harm to our mental and physical body, and if it goes un-corrected and un-managed, it causes havoc on many of our systems, as the adrenaline and hormones change or physical make up causing inflammation in the body. One main cause of weight gain shown by studies is that stress effects our ability to cope and the consequences are severe not only from what we do physically like less exercise, and over compensating with food but chemically we have to cope and adapt too.

The re connection with your spirit via meditation helps you to re connect with your body and discover what she needs for her best health and what she needs to really feel ALIVE

Be accountable to yourself as your best friend

We all know that hen know one is watching things don’t happen, so its wonderful to have a buddy a friend to support, motivate and join you on your path.

I have re married myself and like to treat myself as I would a best friend. I said my vows and I have committed to myself to be the best version of myself I can.

You see I have this clear version of myself that I want to become and she is cheering me on. I know how this future version of me walks, talks, dresses, sounds, feels and what she thinks. She is my avatar and she needs me to be her arms and legs and she is my spirit.

I talk to her kindly as I would a best friend, I have chosen kind and positive words, as hopefully you can also see that I am entirely in her hands, as much as she is in mine and that’s a fact.

I want the next phase of my life to be thoroughly enjoyable and only I can make that happen.

Turn off those Triggers… 1, 2, 3, Go

I would seriously advise you DO NOT SPEND any time or money on any diet or any weight loss cure, until you have this figured out, because until you do you are throwing your money, time and hard effort down the drain.

Your trigger is the one thing that touches you, and makes you react so strongly yet unconsciously. It’s time to become aware of what they are for you so you can turn them off.

Your trigger is so strong that it has you diving into patterns and habits without you even knowing or until its too late. That’s why you can’t keep the weight off after all your hard work and effort and then it comes back time and time again.

Even if you were triggered during the day and you could not express your rage or hurt or disappointment at the time, it will continue to eat away at you until you have the exact opportunity to fill that empty space up, and nurse her all better again and that is usually with your chosen drug which is food. Carbohydrates and fatty cheese releases the most serotonin and alters the hormone balance making us feel happy so Its clear to see its bigger than us.

You have a bank of emotions inside still running that are triggered and need nursing still, they have not been heard or know how to be heard the next time; They will stay like that forever letting you Yo Yo diet all your life until they are recognized and dealt with.

A wild animal when she is chased and escapes has a mechanism to shake off the terror and adrenalin all this chemicals that rushed around the body so she could cope and escape. Then she can start again. We do not have a mechanism for this but desperately need one. We deal and cope the best we can, and after the episode has passed we do nothing with the fear terror and trapped chemicals, we fester and boil and our trigger is set to explode, yet we only have one route out of these feelings….. EAT..

When you know yourself as an ambitious and a seriously capable woman, and yet you feel that your body has let you down somewhere in the process, take a step back and know that you can find the crucial elements that are underpinning everything, and you can create a new body you can be proud of and have the energy and confidence you need.

You may not know me yet, but I am here with a purpose to help you to lose weight and keep it off. My methods help many struggling women and I’m inviting you to hop on a call with me to a ‘Eliminate Your Triggers Breakthrough Session’ to discover the crucial elements to consciously reconstruct the body you’ve always wanted , from the inside out, whilst enjoying foods you really love.

5 Tips to Combat Stress Eating

S T R E S S the Silent Killer that is Making you FAT

Such a small word that causes so much havoc even when you just say the word S T R E S S
Stress sets off a chain reaction in the body. A squirt of adrenaline here, a released hormone there, all are toxic to your body as she starts to find ways to protect you from these chemicals. They are there to help you in dangerous situations, but we never run or physically fight when we feel stressed, so where do these killer chemicals go? Our bodies best way is to store them in and make more and more fat cells.
Do you know what causes you to get Stressed?

Stress negatively alters your blood sugar levels which can lead to mood swings, fatigue, hyperglycemia, and metabolic syndrome
Your fat cells inflame and become diseased fat cells,
And stress often causes us to eat too much, or for some not enough, which pushes our blood sugar levels even further over the edge and into the danger zone.
It causes you to go on an emotional roller coaster
It destroys your immune system
Your heart blood pressure rises and falls repeatedly, damaging the linings of the hearts and TAKES YEARS OFF YOUR LIFE.
It Damages your digestion
It Puts any sizzle in your love life – on ice
It Makes you forgetful
It Hurts your head
Stress will also use up all your reserves of nutrients leaving you feeling like your starving and need more fuel. She will send you messages to get you to eat more. And that is just the tip of the iceberg…..

SO….How you cope with stress really matters. If you have not found a way to release these stress chemicals or find a way to let them out of your body, they will be stored forever more and create more FAT and in particular that wobbly Belly Fat.

It’s a modern day epidemic this stress and most people wear it like a badge of honor – saying when asked how they are:
“Oh you know Busy, Busy”. Like it’s a good thing.

I am so excited to be doing this blog about all this stress, and what you’ve been needlessly hanging onto for way to long. All that Bull-Shit you’ve taken over the years and that has indirectly caused you to gain weight.

I wish I had known before that a huge portion of the weight I was holding onto, lay in things other than the food I was eating. I became obsessed with the food and fasting aspect and now know that although it works temporarily, like a blip in time, it is just 20{6a14cc849908c46212f3d2c8a81eada984febec31535ea1cc7f55de4f8a4ba8e} of the whole picture.
However 80{6a14cc849908c46212f3d2c8a81eada984febec31535ea1cc7f55de4f8a4ba8e} of the reason we gain and hold onto weight lies in the chemical responses our bodies have to stress.

Its taken me over a year to discover some of my more serious blocks to losing and transforming weight, so please don’t take as long as I did. It’s just too painful to be in a body you hate.

Emotional eating and eating under stress is when we choose to eat for any reason other than to nourish the body. It’s when emotions or memories fuel our hunger, rather than a real or true biological need for nutrients. All too often, a stressful situation is a trigger that has us grabbing bread, starchy, and fatty comfort foods.

Stress seriously decreases the number of good bacteria living in the gut who we need to digest our food and release the fat.

The sugars in starchy foods like pasta, rice, bread and potatoes encourage the release of serotonin in the brain.

Serotonin is a brain chemical that makes us feel good. For example, many antidepressants block the uptake of serotonin so that more of it stays in the brain, making us feel happier.

Even though comfort foods and sugar may dampen strong emotions, in the long run these habits create more stress on the body and a greater potential for fatigue, serious weight gain and depression.

Do You Eat While Stressed?

In short, stress shuts down your digestive power—making it harder to break down food and easier to overwhelm your digestion.

Emotional stress fuelled eating can leave you feeling worse than when you started. So how do I know that I am stressed?

During a stress response:

  1. Your mouth gets dry; this is problematic since saliva contains important digestive enzymes.
  2. Digestion stops. You can feel the tightening and a hardening knot in the digestive area.
  3. Stress hormone levels rise. You can feel quite jittery as adrenalin races around your body
  4. Inflammation increases. You can feel bloated
  5. Immune function drops. Likely you will not know this until you feel weak.
  6. Your neck and shoulders or other areas tense up, and you can get headaches, aches and pains after long periods of stress not released in the body.

Stress hormones activate the fight-or-flight response, telling the body to send resources to where they are needed—not to your digestive tract.

The muscles, cardiovascular system and respiratory system are literally flooded with support when your body is on high alert, your other systems however receive little or no help. This is one reason why ongoing stress can lead to problems like heartburn, constipation, lack of appetite or an increase of appetite.

Stress also works against the immune system. When we are feeling stress, we produce stress hormones that tell certain bacteria’s and yeast to grow. Stress decreases the number of good and effective digestive bacteria living in the gut. When we have a lower amount of our good bacteria, the body is more susceptible to infection, inflammation, and Candida overgrowth.

Emotional eating is often considered to be normal until you are aware of it, especially if you’re frequently under stress and have grown accustomed to it. In a stressful situation, you most likely first reach for starchy, fatty foods as a source of comfort. Starchy foods contain sugars that encourage the release of the feel-good chemical serotonin in the brain. Over the long-term, stress eating can place a burden on the body and increase the risk of fatigue and depression.

5 Tips to Combat Stress Eating

When you’re under stress, use these five tips to preserve your digestive health and stop emotional eating: Here are some tips that can help to calm cravings in times of stress.

  1. Choose to stop eating and find a relaxing memory and get back into your own body. Sit back and relax your stomach, breath deeply, disengage from any current stress. Get to know at any time your own stress levels, from 0 relaxed to 10 stressed and develop an easy and quick way to reduce that stress.
  2. Keep some probiotic foods near you, like fermented sauerkraut that is rich in good bacteria and offers a high percentage of essential probiotic and pre-digested nutrition that is easy on and will restore the depleted gut.
  3. Re balance your system after a stress full situation. Learn how to ground yourself and change the scenery. Get outside into nature where there are no stimulants, electronics, people or situations to raise your stress levels. Learn to meditate or do some energetic movement to shake off the stress. Have at least 10 things that you know you can do to change your frame of mind every time.
  4. Be mindful of your thoughts and emotions, listen to what you are telling yourself, notice the triggers that are firing off in your head. These will often have you reaching later for fatty, heavy carbohydrate foods unless you have re balanced your stress levels. Discover what exactly triggered you into stress, know your own boundaries and what you absolutely will not tolerate, what you find totally frightening and confrontational.
  5. Get in touch with your body and out of your head and ask what she needs most right now, what nutrient and nourishment will quell her stress. Drop your awareness down to your body and find your breathing and ask: What missing nutrient am I starving for? Find a way to give that to yourself.

You can learn how to nurture your body and transform emotions without ignoring them or covering them up with unhealthy eating habits.

This isn’t always easy. But when it comes to maintaining health and vitality, managing stress and how we eat during stressful times is essential. As you learn to manage stress in ways that don’t involve unhealthy food, pay special attention to how your digestive system feels either tight or relaxed. They will be good indicators of how your body is handling your emotions.

The Link Between Stress and Body Fat

The Link between Stress and Fat on your body.

You are NEVER going to lose weight until you get familiar and deal with your stress, past present and future!

Why is stress making me fat? Simply put Stress is causing a chain reaction in the body that releases hormones, that then run riot in the body, hormones that are very well known like Cortisol which is the NO 1 stress hormone and real bad boy to have anywhere near your body as it makes you gain, hold onto, store and convert more into fat that you will ever need.

Stress is a poison in your body a really serious toxin. I have been a Detox Diva for years and very familiar with chemical toxins and how to release these from your body, that are being stored in our gut and cells. This is way beyond the physical and external influences of what we take into our bodies, but actually it is something that we create ourselves in our bodies, so we have to deal with this from a completely different angle.

I have put together a whole set of tutorials that seriously reduce stress and teach you how to avoid new stress and how to get rid of the old stored baggage you are still carrying around. click the link to access the full description.

In my vast experience with healthy eating and diets and cleansing the body, I can say that you can eat as healthy as you like for as long as you like, but if you are generating, and reacting to situations with stress you will have a very damaging substance in your body that is causing you to hold and create more and more fat.

This fat is believe it or not a blessing, and is luckily protecting you from these toxins and poisons by using fat to shield you and your organs from their potential harm. Now without being too doom and gloom about all of this, it can be reversed and have a happy ending. There is hope! Hallelujah I hear you cry!

First you need to know what makes you stressed and how that stress feels in your body, so you can recognize it when it happens. And put some real workable actions into practice. For me it has a taste a bitterness, and acid flavour, My tongue burns and my belly is acidic much like heart burn. My body curls in on itself and I either want to run or hide, I get choked and can’t speak sometimes. Unlike other personalities who respond with violent words and express themselves fully. This is well worth knowing how you react to stress, as this is the key.

In nature when an animal is chased to be eaten and that animal is not caught, then it will have a time that it shakes off the stress. We humans seldom do this. Certainly the personalities I am talking to. Its something we need to learn to let go of all that adrenalin that causes a damaging internal chain reaction that races through our bodies and will eat us up if we don’t take care of it soon.

The after effects of stress will make you do things that you would normally avoid doing, if you were of clear mind. It will make you eat foods that counteract the bitterness, fatty foods like cheese to soften the blow or sugars to sweeten up the story. These foods create a partial reverse chain reaction that counteract the feeling of the stress ( but not the chemical release of all those hormones ) and give you a feeling of being more relaxed, calmer and more in control. They induce a heavier fuller sensation that helps you to cope and be able to carry on, as if normal again.

You can learn how to do this for yourself without the extra food or what ever drug of choice you have habitually used. But at some point needs to come the time to shake off the stress that you experienced today, after that you can purge the stress that you are still carrying around from the past, the old baggage, garbage that you never took out to the trash before. So you can release the stress your holding on to and not get hooked up and attract that level of stress back into your life in the future.

Oh that sounds good, right?

Certain personalities have a higher level of stress than others, they don’t even know they are stressed as they are always at that level of stress, its continuous and they are unconscious of it.

They don’t remember how to be more relaxed, and having someone say to you relax is like talking a different language to them. They think they are relaxed. Ha I know that feeling. Its like chalk and cheese once I realized how much further I could relax and sensed the levels that I could attain.

I am like this, I have run little known to me on a high level of stress for ever. I heard it described to me that I was over vigilant over sensitive more than once. I can take a lot on, I can cope well under fire, I can care for everyone, notice what needs to be fixed and have a long list of jobs and get them all done, I am practical, efficient, responsible and super reliable.

I hold it all inside and cope well or so it looks on the outside, my coping mechanism started to show me enough was enough when I realized that there was more going on here than food in and food out, as I dieted and detoxed to extreme, and that I was gaining weight even although I was eating less and less.

I saw it in other ladies too that I detoxed on my detox retreats here in France, they did not lose any weight where as my detox week regularly released 5KG (10 lbs) in a week, some ladies were not able to release anything. I had ways to effect the goal they wanted and it was never about food. What they needed TLC and deep relaxation first, then a way to express and release the levels of stress that I became familiar in recognizing and sensed they were carrying. They actually really needed to feel safe.

I have a similar story that a friend once told me how she saw me, and when I heard this I brushed it all off and said but its me its normal, I’m OK.

She said, “OMG you moved to France, you knew nobody here, you were pregnant and did not speak French. You now have a huge house, 2 businesses to run ( my detox retreat and my apartment rentals ) You are dedicated to help others get well with your retreats. You were 40 and 42 when you had your boys alone with no support of family or friends, you do this big garden, have a huge vegetable patch, chickens, dogs and kids and your partner does not really help you as you need. It’s your dream. You then started a French conversation group in Biarritz every Wednesday evening, to meet people and learn French, you never say you can’t come. That’s remarkable, that’s a lot for one person to take on”

I brushed it off but the synopses stayed with me for years until I realized and woke up to the fact that that was causing me a great deal of stress, anxiousness in me and I had not asked for help, expressed my hurt or disappointment, or ever complained. ( well maybe a bit )

This was my Kryptonite, this stress was my weakest point. It made me over tired, irritable, I could not think clearly, make rash decisions, that made me more stressed which made me need to eat what ever was at hand to cope and carry on, saying I’ll be OK I’ll take some time out for me later, but I never did and even if I did I would not know what to actually do to release the stress that had built up.

You are only as good as your weakest link. I learnt that in electronics ( my previous company in the UK ) and being in camera technology, you can’t take a really good signal and expect it to be the same at the other end with a poor quality cable. The good quality cable would be my healthy nutrition but my weakest link was certainly the stress I was carrying alone.

My circumstances did change, but my way of coping was the same. I now know. It took me some time to see it I hope with al my heart that you see and get to come to terms with a new way of dealing with your stress, before its too late and these poisons start effecting other areas of your life too.

Now I know exactly what makes me stressed. How to reduce my current stress, what level of stress I am at, at any time.

I recognize what has stressed me in the past and I clear that quickly.

I re set my hormone levels and do things to raise my level of good hormones and releasing the store of toxic memories and the fat that goes along with that.

And I now have learnt how to receive, ask for support and take care of myself much, much better.

This is as essential as good nutrition and for transformation of a healthy energised body and mind.

The Shake it off and Tip The Scales program ( The Ultimate Body Connection ) I am proud of this program as it captures so much of what I have done with 1 to 1 clients over the past years, and I have put all of that and so much new material into this program. I am running this for 8 weeks and it teaches all of this and more to become a Woman who can express her real needs and not be a victim to stress any longer.

I would love to share this information with you that has catapulted me into living a real life here in France. No longer in survival mode and at the mercy of stress but actually living and enjoying every day. I’ve lost the weight as a result and feel more and more relaxed and believe that everything is working out really well.

What is the No 1 Missing Nutrient?

Emotional Eating

Just recently I finished an extra course in the psychology of eating, just out of curiosity and to further my education of what’s new. I must say it goes along really nicely with what I have always felt and have come to believe.

Its not so much what or how you eat that seems to matter. Even stronger than that, it is often not even food that we are even craving. Yet it’s our habitual use of food and its repetition, and not looking for the real fulfillment, that keeps us all hooked on the things we have always used to sooth our soul. Here is a real nutritional and nourishing upgrade the missing nutrient and the final game changer.

If you’re interested in your health, and for what ever reason you first felt motivated to start on your health journey. Could be that your weight was literally weighing you down mentally and physically, this is the number 1 call for change, and starts many of us in the direction for looking for solutions.

Then maybe you have noticed that there is just a slight or maybe more like a massive gap when it comes to what we consider food and what is actually real nutrition.

Then maybe you noticed that it does not seem to matter what you eat or how much exercise you do, the weight does not shift. The world is truly experiencing a fantastic increase in weight, overeating, emotional eating, binge eating, body image challenges, poor digestion, fatigue, low immunity, mood concerns, hormonal imbalances and so more.

We all know that good nutrition is paramount to health. But here’s the real deal that I have discovered for myself and for my clients… more often that not, good nutrition is just not nearly enough of a incentive to help us get where we need to go. To feel well and have the oodles of energy we all seem to need to get us through these endless busy days. How many people have you personally met who know exactly what to eat, who know what they’re supposed to do – and they just don’t do it? Myself included, when I hit a bump in the road my comfort cravings rise to call me again and again. What I’ve learnt is that it’s a phase and I need to feel what’s really the matter, what am I missing. What nutrients have I ignored? No amount of forcing myself to stay off certain foods will do when I am hurting from a life crisis. Listening and being mindful to why I’m reaching for these favorite snacks has been my teacher and savior throughout the years. Its been an opportunity and signal to find out what Ive been ignoring.

The end result is that there’s a vast number of people ( I’ve already admitted my pain) struggling with eating challenges and unhappy with who they are and how they feel.

And we all need help.

People are searching for answers.

We all want solutions

This is where I can hopefully come in.

There is a need for qualified professionals to guide and support through the confusion of feelings, information overload and your cravings.

And that’s where I come in as a completely different kind of health coach and training:

The Psychology of eating has interested me for a long time, especially as a personal coach to clients after the detox and cleanse program, that I have facilitated over the last 10 years here at Retreat Biarritz.

The reasons we eat and have cravings are as wide as the largest gap you can ever imagine, and as deep as the deepest ocean. Yet they are controllable and navigable once you can see and feel them coming on, It’s a simple and delicate operation and one that really works wonders.

This unique synthesis is the “missing link” for so many people when it comes to finally transforming their relationship with food, body and health.

So, this is an opportunity to launch off into a cutting-edge new direction if you are looking for personal answers. Get real and lasting results for yourself.

I am willing to bet that you have a “missing nutrient” if you are experiencing cravings at certain times, body image issues, experiencing un-explained increase in weight, overeating, emotional eating, binge eating, body flexibility challenges, poor digestion, fatigue, low immunity, mood concerns, hormone imbalances and using food as your solution to any number of problems you are currently facing.

All too often we look to fix ourselves first with food, by withholding and restricting certain foods, but what you will experience here with me is a quick understanding of what your body is really asking for.

I am offering you a single personal and up to 2 hours of introduction to this method.

All you need to do is reply to this e-mail and I will book you into one of the slots that are free over the coming next 2 weeks.

You can simply reply using the text “my missing nutrient”.

I have limited spaces to offer, so be quick to reply to ensure that you get one of these spaces I am only offering this spring. I wont be repeating this program again this year.

I will be excited to hear from you, and work with your body and communication and discover what your missing under the normal solutions lies the root to your discomfort.

Play Time is an essential nutrient

Play Time Special. By Fiona Robertson

Just because we’re adults, that doesn’t mean we have to take ourselves so seriously and make life all about work and achieving goals. We all need to play.

Play isn’t some trivial, dumb thing that’s just for kids. Play should be as important to you as eating greens or drinking water.

Not only does enjoying pleasure and play grow new brain connections for happier moods and better memory, play also sets off a cascade of body-positive effects that will help you to keep you slim and vital. You will literally radiate with more joy and as you do things chemically change within your body and the link between the mind and the body starts to work again.

This is what I have come to experience and learn and why I had to put this page together to specifically show you and remind you the value of changing our perception. To be kind with yourself and remember what it feels like to be in a body that wants the best for you.

What I am proposing is a more of an out of the box solution, to today’s socially accepted norms. But it is a great and successful solution none the less that has a massive effect on our cellular structure, and it can only be experienced to be believed.

Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, we’ve stopped playing. Now a-days when we do carve out some down or leisure time for ourselves, we’re more likely to zone out in front of the TV or computer than engage in any type of fun, rejuvenating play like we did as children. But Adult play is a time to forget about work and commitments, and to be social in an unstructured, creative way.

So often we concentrate on things we’ve learnt about to try and feel better from what and how to eat, and what exercise to do to keep in shape feel better, forcing ourselves to follow a path that actually just does not feel good for us.

However we totally ignore any form or attitude of playfulness as an option to boost our oxygen levels, reduce stress and re set our hormones, which would actually have a massive effect on our bodies ability to function at its optimum levels.

If you run around like crazy, catering for everyone else’s needs, seeing and talking about how much we have to do, how hectic our timetables are with, work deadlines, family, children, partners all wanting something different from you, and you feel like you are being pulled in every direction. And on top of that if you feel sport is a necessary struggle, just as much as how you perceive and judge what you eat and don’t eat, this is a level of stress that is consuming you and will have very detrimental effects on our ability to let go of any weight, aches pains and health concerns that are haunting you.

By giving yourself permission to play with the joyful abandon of childhood, you can reap the myriad of health benefits throughout life.

Play can:

  • Relieve stress. Play is fun and can trigger the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
  • Improve brain function. Playing chess, completing puzzles, or pursuing other fun activities that challenge the brain can help prevent memory problems and improve brain function. The social interaction of playing with family and friends can also help ward off stress and depression.
  • Stimulate the mind and boost creativity. Young children often learn best when they are playing—and that principle applies to adults, as well. You’ll learn a new task better when it’s fun and you’re in a relaxed and playful mood. Play can also stimulate your imagination, helping you to adapt, be creative and problem solve.
  • Improve relationships and your connection to others. Sharing laughter and fun can foster empathy, compassion, trust, and intimacy with others. Play doesn’t have to be a specific activity; it can also be a state of mind.
  • Keep you feeling young and energetic. In the words of George Bernard Shaw, “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” Playing can boost your energy and vitality and even improve your resistance to disease, helping you feel your best.
  • Improve your looks. A happy joyful face and posture is attractive to everyone, your face is beaming a smile and it will naturally attract more smiles and positive gestures and help from others.
  • Play releases hormones that activate your happy drugs to flow around the body, which in turn trigger the cells to operate in a completely different way than if your forcing yourself to do sport and exercise, or stick to a hard and fast diet or regime.
  • The science is not totally there yet but the evidence is very clear. A new attitude to your self, your body and your thoughts through adopting more play time can vastly enhance weight loss, relieve pain and tension, be more creative, get great and novel ideas,

I don’t just encourage you to get out and play more (or get in the bedroom and fool around) just because it’s a lot more fun than dragging your butt to the gym in another self-punishment workout (though it totally is).

Physical play and physical pleasure help our brains stay healthier as we age, and balances our hormones. Play keeps our neural pathways open and running smoothly, and keeps the brain “young.”

What’s crazy is how adults, especially women, have been convinced that denying, restricting, and punishing ourselves is the way to get what we want.

Science has shown that restricting, depriving, counting calories and being hyper-vigilant about food and eating has put us into a constant state of stress called “fight or flight” mode.

And when you’re in this state, your body makes more cortisol and releases more insulin. And that insulin “tells”your body not to use fat as a source of energy. Instead it says, “Hold onto that fat. We may need it later.”

So the more your body is in a stressed-out state rather than a fun, playful one, the more you encourage a biochemical state inside yourself that makes you pack on the pounds. Which is why the old way most of us were taught to lose weight is totally false.

But you know what puts an end your body’s stress state?
Enjoying Yourself.

Here’s a list of 4 Neurochemicals of Play & Pleasure that also lead to joyful weight loss:

  1. Dopamine: Everything you do or eat for pleasure produces dopamine surges in your brain. From setting and achieving goals to mind-blowing sex to holding hands or hugging, this key player in the reward system of your brain is where we get that feeling of pleasure.

  1. Endocannabinoids: Possibly the cause for “runner’s high,”these self-produced cannabis chemicals are created by your brain and are called the “bliss molecules,” which make movement fun, keeping us coming back for more.

  1. Oxytocin: “The bonding molecule”is produced from skin-to-skin contact, making love, affection, and intimacy. Playing and commiserating with a friend also releases oxytocin and bonds us with friends and lovers. It also, funnily enough, bonds us to our dogs, so cuddling and playing with your dog makes them into a loved, lifelong partner. But you dog lovers knew that already.

  1. Endorphins: These tiny molecules are basically self-produced morphine or opiates that have pain-killing properties. They’re generally released during strenuous physical play, sex and orgasm.

You can make positive steps towards your happy state to come into your own natural high—and natural weight loss—without punishing yourself. What I specifically teach you and help you to experience, is how to feel that state and maintain it. Thinking it is not enough to actually make it work for you. The magic is in the genuine feeling of joy and happiness, which I am so excited to talk to you about.

Do you know what makes you light up? Have you asked yourself what’s fun for you lately? Have you seriously thought about what makes you laugh and shine in your body?

Most of us weren’t trained by our parents to look for the fun, or taught the importance of play, or made to believe that our joys and pleasures were valuable. Did any teacher or parent ask you: What makes you feel whole and alive?

Most of us are trained to see play and pleasure as a treat that you can have after you’ve perfected your work or done all your chores. I invite you to view play and fun as a biological necessity. I ask you to ponder that play and fun are the only paths to real health. And I’ll meet you on the playground!

Quite an emotional wrap up to our sessions today for me. I went straight to the pool and swam my heart out and felt alive! (which would have been unheard of less that 4 months ago).

I  want to say (and share with others if you like) that it’s been a great trip since February. I know inside of me I wanted change but your initial mail and first call with those questions really sparked a reflection for me, and now I realise how much I was not listening to my body…almost blaming it for not feeling good.

I find your way of coaching is so encouraging and linked to your life experience so is totally plausible. The step by step program was indeed like building bricks / jigsaw pieces slotting into place..

I only regret not doing this earlier…my advice to anyone not feeling good about themselves…contact Fiona.

Your ear and listening capabilities are great and you are not tangled in our day to day stuff so as to see and feel clearly what’s happening for me…..while staying very personal, and giving a real feeling of made to measure coaching.

I realise the issues with my situation have been weighing on me for ages and have resulted in a spiral of not well being. I kept surfacing for air then plunging down again. I really desire balance from now on with all the joy & lightness that I have discovered these past weeks…

My gratitude is that I have had the opportunity for travel during this time but my brag is that I seized it…..(I never ever thought I would or could have done that, its you who opened that up as a desire in me).

Each night and morning I relive that night under the desert shooting stars when I felt like I was floating on Earth, in ultimate LIGHT NESS !

But I know I cannot stay in the desert so a desire is to achieve another lightness…in my every day life which I am beginning to really experience with your help and tools. hmmmm

Thoughts from cloudy, muggy Paris

Wishing you all the very best,

Love Patricia
